Ontario VIII e-mail access

To access your email via your internet browser, go to http://bk-ontarioviii.org/webmail/ and then enter your entire email address as the user name and then enter your password.


 

To set up your Microsoft Outlook Express to check your Ont VIII email account, follow the steps below.  Microsoft Outlook is the same steps.  The incoming and outgoing mail server names are both mail.bk-ontarioviii.org

Netscape set-up is listed below the Outlook set-up.

To configure a new Outlook Express account, follow the instructions below.

  1. Launch Outlook Express

     

  2. Click Tools --> Accounts, The Accounts window appears

     

  3. Click the Mail tab

     

  4. Click the Add button then choose Mail, the Internet Connection Wizard appears



     

  5. As your Display Name, enter the name you want others to see in the from: field when you send Email, then click Next

     

  6. Enter your Email address (username@rogers.com), then click Next

     

  7. Do not change the value beside My incoming mail server is a. It should remain set to POP3.
  8. Input pop into the Incoming mail (POP3) server field. Set your incoming mail server to pop.
  9. Input smtp into the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field.
  10. Click Next

    Note: If you are running a home network your Email settings need to be slightly different than those listed above. Click here to obtain your network-compatible Email and News settings.

     

  11. Enter your Email ID in the Account Name field. Your Email ID is the portion of your Email address before "@rogers.com". In this case, the Email address is "johnnyq@rogers.com" so the Email ID is "johnnyq".
  12. Enter your email account password (which is cAsE sEnSiTiVe). The new Email account password can be found on your Transition Guide surface mailing. The password is also the last 8 digits of your account number. When entered, the password is displayed as a series of asterisks (****), and you can set Outlook Express to remember your password if you don't want to type it in every time you check for new messages)
  13. Ensure the Log On Using Secure Password Authentication box is not checked
  14. Click Next

     

  15. Click Finish, the Internet Connection Wizard will close



  16. The Internet Accounts window should still be open. If it is not, click
    Tools --> Accounts to open it.
  17. Click the Mail tab, the Mail Accounts window appears



  18. In the large window where the mail accounts appear, click on the name of the account you just added, then click the Properties button, the account properties window appears



  19. Click the Servers tab



  20. Check the box beside My server requires authentication, then click the Settings button. The Outgoing Mail Server window appears



  21. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server and click OK. The account properties window re-appears



  22. Click Apply, then OK to close the properties window. The Internet Accounts window will reappear.



  23. From the Internet Accounts window, click on your newly created @rogers.com Email account, the account will highlight.
  24. With your new @rogers.com Email address selected. click on Set As Default. Your Rogers.com Email address is now your default mail account.
  25. Click Close to exit the Internet Accounts window, your Email conversion is complete.

 


 

Using Netscape User Profile Manager to Add Email Accounts

To add an Email user profile to Netscape

  1. Single-Click Windows' START button
  2. Choose Programs
  3. Move the cursor over the Netscape Communicator folder
  4. Move the cursor to Utilities
  5. Click User Profile Manager


  6. Click NEW in the Profile Manager window
  7. Click Next
  8. Enter the Name of the person using this profile in the Full Name field (i.e. John Smith)



  9. Enter the associated Email address, in lowercase (john.smith@home.com)
  10. Click Next
  11. Enter a Profile Name to uniquely identify the Profile from others



  12. Click Next
  13. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field type mail



  14. Click Next
  15. In Mail Server User Name, enter the Email username (characters before the @ sign, i.e. john.smith)
  16. The Incoming Mail Server is mail
  17. Select POP3 as the Mail Server Type



  18. Click Next
  19. In News (NNTP) server, type news
  20. Leave the Port set to 119 (default)
  21. Make sure Secure is not checked
  22. Click Finish
    The Netscape profile with the new Email address is complete.
If you use multiple profiles you are prompted at the Profile Manager to choose a profile each time you open Netscape.
  1. Single-click the Profile Name drop down menu to display the list of Profiles
  2. Click the name you want to use
  3. Click Start Communicator
